We’ve all faced the classic weekend dilemma: Where do we go for dinner? And what are we doing for fun after? I just came from celebrating a special occasion there, and the experience was too good not to share. We walked in expecting some decent food to go with a bit of karaoke fun. What we got was a full-blown culinary journey that set the stage for an unforgettable night.

The Feast: This Isn't Your Average Bar Food

Let's get one thing straight. The "lounge" part of Moxie & Lounge Karaoke isn't an afterthought—it's a destination. The menu is packed with authentic, high-quality Japanese cuisine that would make any foodie swoon.

We decided to go all-in and ordered a table-filling spread. The sushi was the star of the show. The Spicy Seared Scallop Tempura Roll was a revelation—the scallop was sweet and perfectly seared, with a satisfying crunch and a gentle kick of spice. We followed that with the Spicy Scallop Sushi, which was simpler but allowed the freshness and delicate texture of the scallop to truly shine.

To balance the richness, we had a classic Veggie Roll and the comforting Tamagoyaki Roll, with its subtly sweet layers of Japanese omelet. Of course, no sushi feast is complete without the essentials: a perfectly executed Shrimp Tempura Roll and a Crunch Roll that delivered on its name with every single bite.

But the delights didn't stop at the sushi bar. We dove into the hot dishes, starting with an order of Takoyaki. These crispy, doughy balls filled with tender octopus and drizzled with savory sauce were dangerously addictive. We also sampled the Kushiyaki (grilled skewers), opting for the smoky Grilled Okra and the melt-in-your-mouth Pork Belly. Each bite was a testament to the quality of the kitchen.

To wash it all down, we skipped the usual beer and went for their signature Yuzu Sake Cocktails. The bright, citrusy yuzu was the perfect counterpoint to the smooth sake—incredibly refreshing and the ideal companion to our meal.

Just when we thought we couldn't possibly fit another thing, we saw it on the dessert menu: the famed Raindrop Cake. This stunning, wobbly, jelly-like creation is as much an experience as it is a dessert. Served with roasted soybean powder and a sweet syrup, it was the light, fascinating, and utterly delicious end to our feast.

From Dinner to Diva: The Main Event

With our appetites satisfied and spirits high, it was time for the grand finale. We were led to our private karaoke room, and this is where Moxie truly shines. Forget flipping through dusty, laminated binders. Their system is completely modern, controlled by a sleek tablet that's incredibly easy to use.

The song selection is, without a doubt, one of the best I've ever seen. They have everything. All the trending songs you hear on the radio today, throwback anthems from the 80s and 90s, indie darlings, and deep cuts. What’s more, their international library is immense. With a massive catalog of songs in various languages, everyone in our group found their jam.

There’s just something about having a private room. You can be as silly, as loud, and as off-key as you want with your favorite people. It was the perfect way to celebrate, creating memories filled with laughter and applause (mostly for effort).
